• 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water

To make authentic sweet and sour sauce, you must first bring ¾ cup of water to the boil, then add sugar and stir. Cook until all the sugar dissolves. Add vinegar, and cook for one more minute.

Now, we’ll mix the cornstarch, soy sauce, and remaining cold water to form a paste. Then stir in to thicken mixture.

*Top Tip: Due to the acidity of the vinegar it’s best to use an enamel pan for this sweet and sour sauce.
