- 4 fresh bartlett pears
- 4 tsp minced preserved jujubes
- 4 tbsp orange honey
- minced chinese dates
To make some delicious steamed honey pears for a delicious Chinese dessert, first wash the fresh bartlett pears. Carefully slice off the tip quarter, leaving the stem intact. Core each pear through to the bottom.
Make four lengthwise cuts from the core outward but not through the skin of the pear. If you have peeled the pears, do not make these cuts. Place pears in individual bowls, such as rice bowls or dessert dishes.
Pack core with the minced dates and add 1 tbsp of orange honey to each pear. Replace top quarter. Keep the pears at room temperature until you are ready to steam them.
Steaming the Pears
In a steamer, bring water to boil. Place pears in their individual bowls onto the steaming tray.
Steam the pears for about 30 minutes, checking frequently to see that they do not overcook and become too soft and mushy. Remove tray from steamer. Allow pears to cool for about 30 minutes. Serve the steamed honey pears at room temperature.
